A ski pass holder seems like a minor purchase, but changes the arrangement around your jacket and sleeve. Long straps, open pockets or a difficult clip can get in the way. First check which type of pass your resort uses and how the operator says to carry it. That determines whether you need an additional holder at all.
Read the operator's instructions first
Ask the resort you have booked about the actual pass type and recommended position. Do not automatically apply instructions from another ski area. Some jackets have a designated pass pocket; check its suitability for your card against the operator's current information. A holder's name alone tells you nothing about its local use.
If you carry other cards, organise them deliberately. Follow local instructions about items that should remain separate from the ski pass. If you encounter problems, avoid repeatedly trying random positions in the access lane. Step aside and ask staff how to carry the pass correctly for that system.
Use existing pockets where practical
Check your jacket first. A closable pocket in a suitable position may remove the need for another holder. The card should fit fully without straining the zip. Remove anything that does not belong there. The clearer the arrangement, the less often you need to check it before each access point.
Try the pocket with your gloves on and jacket closed. Even if the card stays inside during use, you must still be able to remove it for inspection or return. Sit down and bend your arm. A hard card edge should not keep pressing uncomfortably into the same spot.
Check an additional holder on your clothing
If you need a separate holder, examine its attachment, closure and intended wearing position. Look for a compact shape and loose parts that cannot be stowed neatly. A long loop is no advantage if it simply knocks against pockets and zips. Attach the holder only as intended for the product and its use.
Avoid threading additional cord through a helmet, equipment or unfamiliar loops to secure an unsuitable holder somehow. If its attachment does not work sensibly with your jacket, choose another design or pocket. Also check whether it unintentionally catches on another object when you take the jacket off.
The simplest arrangement starts with the actual pass type and your existing clothing. A fixed pocket that closes properly may be entirely sufficient. Where a holder is needed, it should be compact and clearly attached. After changing clothes, check that the pass remains in its intended place, and follow the local instructions at access points.
